Some geekiness

I did a series of TV-inspired drawings last week, they're all for sale by the way! Sherlock and Lestrade are actually landscape-oriented, but the full images didn't fit on my scanner.

All my friends are dating.

This book has been gaining a lot of popularity recently, but I thought we could use a more relatable version.

Jackie

"When we were dating, I once gave her a dogwood blossom because I thought it represented the turning of the season. She was offended because she thought it was a weed. Since then, I've given her one every year." -Bill, of his wife Jackie.

Between getting up to do laundry and drawing screenshots, I hardly ever finish movies.

For Travelers

A card for some very dear ones. Unfortunately the lettering was hurried and not as pretty as I wanted it to be... I'll just pretend it gives it character. Or something.

I never uploaded this, apparently. Done for a friend's music blog, very quick digital sketch.

Minimalist Portraits

I recently did a portrait for some friends who were getting married, then had the idea of turning into a business. One-off acrylic paintings, no prints. Customized portraits like the first two can be made with colors of your choice, or I'm also making a set of pre-made ones such as the bottom two. If you have any ideas for subjects, leave a comment!

2013 Gage Drawing Jam -Portraits

2013 Gage Drawing Jam -Figures

Recently, a few people have asked me "Wait, those are real people? You're actually looking at real naked people?" While always amusing, they are valid questions since most people (especially in this country) are supremely uncomfortable with nudity of any kind.
The most simple answer I've found is this: If I were a nurse or doctor, I'd be dealing with partially or fully naked people much more often, but I would also have to touch them, talk with them, and connect with them personally. As an artist when I see a nude model on a platform in a studio, it's much more impersonal. I focus on the rhythm of the body, the light and dark, and the line and form. The stories I find there may be honest, projected, or entirely ignored. I'm only here to record it as best I can.

Candid sketch of this very talented guy. Gel pen on (in?) Moleskine.

I like drawing again.

Got to sit in on a drawing class at SCCC today, best treat in a long time. I get happy about weird stuff.

Live model, poses ranging from 10 seconds to 15 minutes (I think.)
